I had read that FL has now elected to NOT advise people to leave the area. The reasoning is that the exit corridors are jammed to a stand-still during the evacuation, the storm hits, and people stuck on the highways drown. Apparently, since they stopped calling for evacuations, the death rate has halved. Again, this is based on something I read (and heard from a friend in Sarasota) before Ian hit.Now, his friends in Ft. Myers? Everything is gone, including about 4 very high dollar vehicles. He drove down to deliver food/etc. to them after Ian had passed through. Getting down there was easy. Getting back, not so much. Said that people were using highway on/off ramps for boat dock…
